UPDATE FROM MASANFU

Its pronounced Masanf (no "u" so Frankie isn't allowed here)

We have been here for two days now. Both filled with epic amounts of rain that are so loud on the tin roofs you cant talk over it.

Yesterday the Masanafu division of the band played for us and we did introductions and a beginning theory class. There are about triple the amount of kids here so we have to divide our classes by instruments, Emily for some reason thinks that her trumpets are the smartest....we'll see about that.

After a short time with the students we came back to a power outage and learned the power of head lamps.

Today we had our first performance! The two bands came together and performed four Christmas songs at a VERY LONG church service. Side note: we saw our first white person, other than the four of us, for the first time in almost a week, and we all thought "look at that muzungu!"

I know that we may not all become famous, but being here we might as well be celebrities. When we walk down the road all the children come running to us and wave and yell "HI MUZUNGU!" And we're really good at giving high fives with everyone.
We're also brushing up on our Luganda everyday.  Here's what we got
Sula Bulungi - Good sleep
Webale - thank you
nayazinza - also thank you
emu, biri, sattu, nnya, tanno, mukaga, musanvu, munana, mwenda, kumi - one through ten
fe turi embadanto - we are little ducklings.   .... this phrase never actually comes in handy. it's just part of a song we learned.

amazzi - water

we've learned a lot more. but it's hard to remember. and it's late. and we're tired. and our minds are scattered. As the boys say after our half hour breathing class, "our brains are not in position."

THAT'S ALL FROM US GO TO BED.
