WE ARE ALIVE

...except for Liz, she was eaten by a lion. We would have saved her but we were too busy catching it on camera.

Okay fine, Liz is actually fine. But we still have three weeks here, and one can still hope.


We arrived in Uganda after 24 hours of traveling, and what did we learn? That in Amsterdam, according to the signs, you must run everywhere, and that Liz doesn't like chocolate milk, so she's a monster. We spent the night in the Banana Village hotel, where we were SURROUNDED BY MONKEYS. Yes, monkeys, who turned out to be quite cute, but we weren't supposed to touch them or feed them. They had signs for people like us, they knew we were coming. The room we stayed in was called Hopkins, it's like they REALLY knew we were coming.
After a quick nights sleep we hopped on a van and made the treacherous trek to the village of Kikajjo through the capital city of Kampala, where no one has any fear when it comes to motor vehicles.

Upon arriving at the village we were greeted by members of the brass band who and marched us to their rehearsal space and performed the US national anthem and we got to hear the Ugandan national anthem, they also played the Beatles "Let it be" which was the highlight of the performance.

After many introductions we were let go to relax in our rooms and explore the village with the Band Elders. Everyone is so friendly here! When we are out we are constantly being waved to by little children and everyone has been very welcoming.

This is us on our walk. From left to right it is....Najib, Jimmy, Hamid, George, Liz, Emily, Frankie and Rochie! (Rochie is short for Rochester..isn't that strange). But this is proof that we are making friends! also that Liz isn't dead.  I would add more photo's but the internet is quite slow, also I am tired and getting grumpy.
